Description
The Department of Performing arts is looking for a Scenic Shop Student Aide who will work in the Scenic shop as carpenters for the build, load-in, tech, and strike of all Productions and report directly to the Scene Shop Supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:


  • Knowledge of terminology and/or coursework in the Technical Theatre

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds

  • Must have had experience in Theatrical set construction

  • Must have experience using stationary power tools such as table saw, band saw, radial arm saw and drill press

  • Must have had experience using power hand tools such as screw guns, circular saws and jig saws

  • Must be able to conform to the Scene Shop Dress Code

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in high places

  • Must be able to work in an environment which contains dust from cut lumber

  • Must have completed Stagecraft I, Stagecraft II, or equivalent

  • Other Duties as assigned

  • Ability to work under strict deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds, exert physical effort, climb ladder

  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday from 2pm-5pm

  • Some evenings and weekends will also be required
