GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Project Analyst (Data and Research) Intern to support our Urban Analytics & Economics practice in our Orlando, Florida office. Our team collaborates closely with Urban Design & Planning and Parks & Public Spaces to assess socioâeconomic, demographic, fiscal, and economic trends and translate findings into strategic insights for public, private, and institutional clients.
This internship provides handsâon experience in applied research, data analysis, and project coordination within a professional consulting environment. This opportunity is a 6-month part-time paid position, hours are flexible and will be structured to accommodate student’s course schedule.
This internship provides handsâon experience supporting realâworld projects while working alongside seasoned professionals. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, collaborative, and ready to contribute to impactful builtâenvironment solutions. This is a temporary position scheduled to work 40 hours per week during a 10-week Summer Internship Program.
Internship Responsibilities:
Assist with data gathering, background research, and development of written and graphic summaries of findings.
Support primary demographic, economic, fiscal, and real estate/site inventory research, including participating in interviews and site visits as needed.
Help organize datasets, identify trends, and assist in building financial or statistical models using established GAI methodologies.
Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and visual materials that communicate key insights to project teams and clients.
Additional Considerations:
Experience or coursework in public finance, budgeting, or economic development is a plus.
Applicants are encouraged to provide a portfolio of academic or professional writing and/or data organization examples.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration & Learning
Participate in planned curriculum coursework, team meetings, scheduled events, project work, field observations.
Shadow senior staff to gain exposure to the full project lifecycle—from planning and design through construction.
Learn and apply industry codes, standards, and best practices.
Contribute ideas and provide general support to help ensure project success.
Project Support
Assist project teams with the preparation of drawings, plans, and technical documents.
Conduct basic research, field observations, and site visits under supervision.
Support design and engineering calculations, quantity takeâoffs, and project documentation.
Help maintain project files, records, and data organization.
Technical Tasks
Draft or update 2D/3D models using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other disciplineâspecific tools.
Assist in developing reports, maps, exhibits, and project presentations.
Review project specifications, submittals, and materials when applicable.
Desired Qualifications:
Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Data Science, Urban Studies, Finance, Real Estate, Public Policy, Political Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Office; familiarity or interest in ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Interest in advancing analytical skills using tools such as Power BI or Power Query.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Curiosity, attention to detail, and a passion for research, analysis, and problemâ
Qualifications
Education
Current Junior or Senior student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related A/E/C discipline.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
Familiarity with CADD design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other disciplineâspecific tools.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interest in the A/E/C industry and builtâenvironment problemâsolving.
Basic proficiency in disciplineâspecific design or modeling software (training provided).
Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and ask questions.
