Job Description - Publicity Intern, Fall 2026

Description

We're now accepting applications for Fall 2026 Publicity Interns in NY & LA.

NEON internships are built around real work, the kind that actually appears in the world and moves the needle for films we believe in. For students looking to break into the industry, there's no better place to learn how independent film really operates, build meaningful connections, and get mentored by people who genuinely love what they do.

This internship is part of NEON's Undergraduate Internship Program, which gives you more than a single-team experience. Beyond working closely with your Publicity colleagues, you'll take part in structured programming, get cross-functional exposure across the company, and go through professional development alongside a cohort of fellow interns.

What makes the NEON internship different:

  • Dive Deep — Get practical experience across film distribution, from marketing and publicity to acquisitions, digital distribution, and theatrical sales.
  • Find Your Fit — We tailor your internship to your interests, placing you on projects that actually inspire you.
  • Become Part of the Team — You'll work alongside industry veterans who are serious about mentoring the next generation.

What you'll gain: Hands-on industry experience, behind-the-scenes insight into how films are made and marketed, professional connections that outlast the semester, and the confidence to take on whatever comes next.

Publicity Intern Responsibilities

  • Assist the publicity team with administrative documents, including status reports, RSVP documents, screening requests, critics' grids, calendars, agendas, and press request grids.
  • Since this is festival and awards season, you will help adapt schedules for breaks, reviews, and reaction memos based on screening schedules.
  • Maintain talent schedules for press days and upcoming events with keen attention to detail.
  • Format and organize press breaks and reviews for all of our titles.
  • Research and collect title-specific news coverage and online reactions, then format them into related documents (e.g. Reaction Memo, Press Breaks, Reviews).
  • Draft screening reports for specific titles and awards screenings.
  • Create and edit email blasts and social media materials using Photoshop and Premiere.
  • Coordinate phone interviews for talent and filmmakers.
  • Provide assistance to the Publicity team, particularly in managing special projects and administrative tasks.
  • Providing support for special events and screenings as necessary

Application Information:

Application Deadline: June 23, 2026, @ 11:59 pm EST

Program Timeline: Monday, August 31, 2026- Friday, December 18, 2026

Scheduled Weekly Hours: Must be available to work in person three days per week for the duration of the internship

To apply, submit your resume and cover letter detailing your interest in the program on our Career Page. Please include your available start date and preferred work schedule. All applications must be submitted through our online job site, as we cannot review emails or direct submissions. Due to high application volumes, it is not possible to provide individual status updates. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to receiving your application.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $18.00 per hour. School credit is optional, and documentation can be provided if needed. No relocation assistance is available. Our interns are onsite and in person based in either the New York or the Los Angeles office.

Schedules vary based on department needs and your availability. We do our best to work around your class schedule.

  • Must be proficient with Photoshop and Premiere. You should also be comfortable working with press clippings, Google Docs/Sheets, and tools like Cision or Muck Rack (experience not required, but a plus)
  • Familiarity with NEON’s films and a general understanding of how press and buzz are built around a release
  • Solid writing and communication skills. Ability to draft emails, press materials, or coverage reports clearly and professionally
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented. Comfortable tracking press breaks, building media lists, and managing deadlines

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive work environment.
