Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an intern to join our Reactor Systems and Heat Transport team. Fusion energy systems frequently involve the transport of tritium within complex thermal‑hydraulic environments. In this role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced computational methods to model tritium transport using the RELAP5‑3D code.
As part of the project, you will engage in both prototype development in Python and production‑level coding in Fortran, while also supporting theoretical research that underpins these modeling approaches. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience at the intersection of nuclear engineering, computational methods, and fusion technology.
This team works a 9x80 schedule onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship.
