Dairy Internship

Internship Summary 

This position is a sixteen (16) week, 20-40 hours per week paid internship for a sophomore or Junior level student attending a university obtaining a Dairy related degree.  This internship will primarily assist our NutriQuest Dairy team in calf research and trials at our research facility. 

Essential Functions

• Aid in all areas of calf research.
  
  
  
  • Help other members of the NQ Dairy R&D Team develop research protocols and procedures.
  
  
  • Oversee essential day to day calf care functions performed by staff on of the calf ranch.
    
    
    
    • Record daily, Weekly, and Monthly research activity.
      
      
      
      1. Calf Feed and Milk Intake
      
      
      2. Calf Weight according to protocol
      
      
      3. Calf Hip Height
      
      
      
      
    
    
    • Record Health and treatment records of calves on trial.
    
    
    • Help on farm Staff feed animals that are on experiment.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  • Communicate with members of Calf source regarding calf care and health.
    
    
    
    • Maintain experimental notebook on a daily basis.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

Internship Qualifications

• Currently attending a University seeking a Dairy degree.


• Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.


• Communication skills including verbal, written and listening.

Travel Requirements

• Minimal to No travel required beyond local travel to Calf Source (DePere, WI)


• Must have a valid Driver’s license.

Physical Demands

• Walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves continually during working hours. Is subject to lifting over 40 pounds.
