Intern EO - Early Childhood Care & Education Programs

This student internship is being offered as a part of EO's Ignite Internships program and is for high school students only. This

internship is offered in partnership with the EO Companies. Students will be employed by EO Companies and all hiring decisions will be made by EO personnel. EO has provided the following job description for this internship:

The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Programs intern will support the work of the EO Programs Department, specifically focusing on initiatives related to Early Childhood Care and Education. EO’s Early Care and Education team works with hundreds of childcare, school, and family day home sites across SWVA to increase quality of and expand access to early education for young children aged birth to 5. The ECCE Programs Intern can expect to:

• Learn more about non-profit organizations and their role in the community


• Support EO staff with important data collection and organization tasks


• Assist in planning and preparation for and attend community events, luncheons, meetings, or conferences related to early childhood care and education.


• Work 2-4 days per week Monday through Thursday, choosing consistent hours between 9am and 4pm daily


• Use their organization and communication skills daily to collaborate with EO program staff

Qualifications for this position include a positive attitude, great communication skills (both written and verbal), knowledge of

Microsoft programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and the ability to define problems and explore problems and solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation for meetings and events


• Data collection and data entry using Excel or other spreadsheet tools


• Prepare materials for shipping and distribution to local child care centers and schools


• Visit local child care centers or other community partners with EO staff


• Organize and prep materials for a variety of purposes
