Intern-DCPS-Summer Cook

This student internship is being offered as a part of EO's Ignite Internships program and is for high school students only.

This internship is offered in partnership with the Dickenson County Public Schools and is open to DCPS students only.

Students will be employed by DCPS and all hiring decisions will be made by DCPS personnel. DCPS has provided the

following job description for this internship:

• Prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals for students, staff, and community


• Ability to follow simple directions and read basic operating instructions


• Ability to work cooperatively with cafeteria staff


• Good communication skills


• Ability to operate simple kitchen equipment such as a mixer, hand-held kitchen tools, and other general kitchen


• equipment.


• To maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen


• To determine the quantities of each food to be prepared daily


• To determine the size of serving to meet the necessary requirements


• To report immediately any faulty or inferior quality food items


• To clean daily all kitchen equipment and wash and sterilize all dishes, silverware, and utensils.


• To remain on premises during school hours or school activity hours


• To oversee the security of the storeroom and maintain correct monthly inventory


• To report immediately to the cafeteria manager and accident occurring in the kitchen
