Intern-DCPS-Summer Custodian

This student internship is being offered as a part of EO's Ignite Internships program and is for high school students only.

This internship is offered in partnership with the Dickenson County Public Schools and is open to DCPS students only.

Students will be employed by DCPS and all hiring decisions will be made by DCPS personnel. DCPS has provided the

following job description for this internship:

• Perform tasks to assist in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment


• Ability to follow simple directions and read basic operating instructions


• Ability to work as a team and follow directions of immediate supervisor


• Good communication skills


• Ability to operate lawn equipment such as general cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, etc.

Performance Responsibilities:

• To sweep, mop, wax, dust, vacuum, and other general cleaning tasks


• To scrub and disinfect toilet areas including cleaning drinking fountains, urinals, toilet bowls, and other fixtures


• Wash windows both inside and outside


• To report immediately any damage to school property


• To be on duty in the building when events are scheduled outside of regular school hours if such is requested by


• the head custodian


• To remain on premises during school/working hours or school activity hours


• To perform other duties as assigned by the head custodian and/or immediate supervisor
