Temporary, non-exempt position (20-40 hours per week)
Compensation at $28 per hour, depending on qualifications
Four-month term, subject to negotiation and renewal

The position will be based in either our Los Angeles or Chicago office. SUMC follows a hybrid remote/in-person model, allowing staff to work remotely most days and requiring office visits bi-weekly (twice a month).
General Overview:
Shared-Use Mobility Center (SUMC) is a non-profit organization working to replace car-centric transportation with people-focused shared mobility to fight climate change, promote equity, and strengthen community. Through pilot projects, research, capacity-building, and advocacy, SUMC helps communities realize a vision of an equitable and sustainable mobility future.
SUMC is expanding its LA and Chicago offices to serve a growing set of programs that support practitioners and stakeholders in pursuing transportation equity and innovation. These programs disseminate knowledge and resources throughout a rapidly-growing mobility ecosystem of local agencies, community-based organizations, Native American tribes, and private sector mobility providers.
SUMC is looking for a Fellow to support research, data analysis, reporting, and evaluation within various SUMC programs.
Position Overview:
SUMC Fellows are responsible for a wide range of duties in a thoughtful, creative, fast-paced atmosphere. The Research Fellow's responsibilities may include collection and management of data related to SUMC projects,, analysis and visualization,, and developing and implementing indicators and methodological processes for new projects.
Research Fellow Duties May Include:
Candidate Background:
Students or recent graduates in Economics, Political Science, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Public Policy, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies or Science, or related programs. Candidates with equivalent work experience are also encouraged to apply.
The fellow should be a flexible team player adept at research, data management and visualization, writing and knowledgeable about transportation. Familiarity with statistical software like Stata or R, Python packages like pandas, and mapping software like QGIS or ArcGIS, are all pros.
