Job Description - Scientific Communications Intern

Summary


Elephas, a Madison, WI-based biotechnology start-up company, is seeking a highly motivated Scientific Communications Intern to join our team. Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The Scientific Communications Intern will be responsible for supporting the development and ongoing ownership of scientific communications related to Elephas’ oncology diagnostics platform.  This individual will lead the development and execution of scientific communications, such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters and/or white papers. The intern will ensure medical and scientifical accuracy, high quality and completion of deliverables within time constraints.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


 



  • Support cross-functional publication teams to drive execution of deliverables. Work closely with R&D to ensure scientific and data analysis plans meet the established strategic objectives. Develop project plans and oversee tactical execution of publication.

  • Work with authors and internal stakeholders to facilitate the development of high-quality abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts. Includes advising on data interpretation and visualization.

  • Encourage best practices and procedures for drafting scientific publications.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. marketing, business development) to review content for scientific accuracy.

  • Monitor published data on a regular basis to maintain competitive landscape assessment.


 


Education/Experience/Skills


 



  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD or MS) or significant medical communications experience required.



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare or research setting with responsibility for writing medical communications, publications, or medical content development (example: graduate students with active responsibilities in writing manuscripts).

  • Knowledge of clinical/scientific publication structure, content, and quality. Knowledge of scientific publication regulations and best practices.

  • Experience and practical knowledge required for drafting medical/scientific manuscripts reporting results from scientific research and/or clinical trials, including the ability to analyze, interpret and accurately present scientific results.

  • Ability to create and manage high-quality documents that effectively and clearly communicate scientific data in a manner properly tailored to their target audience.

  • Strong interest in reading, reviewing, and evaluating scientific literature, particularly related to the field of immuno-oncology; ability to communicate implications cross functionally.

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining scientific and regulatory accuracy in all communications.

  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
