Job Description - UChicago METCALF - TAPS - Ryan, Elizabeth - 2.17.2026

Transit and transit-oriented development (TOD) research relies on detailed, disaggregate data to accurately represent travel behavior, land use patterns, and network performance in activity-based simulation models. This project focuses on data analysis efforts supporting transit and TOD modeling within the POLARIS framework. The student will curate, clean, and integrate multimodal transit, land use, and socioeconomic datasets to meet the input and calibration requirements of high-fidelity transportation simulations. This includes analyzing ridership, accessibility, and built-environment indicators across scenarios, as well as developing reproducible data pipelines to support policy evaluation of transit investments and TOD strategies.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Applicants must be:

‒ Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution

‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or

‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution
