Job Description - Residential Sales Intern

Must be authorized to work in the US and This position will be required to be On-Site in Minnesota No Remote option No relocation assistance offered.



The primary responsibility of the Residential Sales Intern is to promote and sell CTC’s products and services which include telephone, Internet and Digital TV services to residential customers.  The Sales Intern visits potential customer homes and properties prospecting for new sales opportunities by connecting with new residential customers about upcoming installs, products and services.

*In addition to the above, this position will perform other work related duties as assigned.  These tasks do not meet the Americans With Disabilities Act definition of essential job functions and are usually less than 5% of time spent.  However, these tasks still constitute important performance aspects of the job.

Supervision Received:  


Works under the direction of Residential Sales Supervisor and/or Sales Manager and/or Senior Management.



 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of telecommunication industry is preferred.

  • Understanding of voice and data technologies.

  • Considerable ability to communicate well with a positive and friendly manner, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

  • Willingness to participate in community activities.

  • Considerable ability to maintain efficient workflow.

  • Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the general public and to deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully.

  • Skill in operating various office equipment such as a personal computer, various software programs, and telephone systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to pay close attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.  Protect the confidentiality of customer's financial information.

  • Ability to positively contribute to a team environment.

  • Ability to maintain a valid and insurable Minnesota Driver’s License.


Education and Experience:


High School diploma.  


 


Physical Requirements:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see; hear; talk; grasp; feel and finger equipment to complete assigned job tasks.  This position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk, talking on the telephone, and working on a computer.  This position also requires full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.  The employee is regularly required to be able to lift; climb; stoop; kneel; pull and push.  The employee frequently must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.



Travel:


Travel will be required for the purpose of sales, meetings, and trainings.  Overnight travel may be required if traveling outside of CTC's existing service area.

Internal - All employees should work together toward a common goal of continued progress of the company.  The employees shall attempt to maintain pleasant working relationships with those in their own and other departments.


 


External – Employees shall remember that quality service is the only reason that the company is in existence.  To the individual customer, that employee is CTC.



Work Environment:


While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, light traffic); ability to work in a confined area (i.e. office cubicle); and ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.  This position will also be regularly exposed to outside conditions that include inclement weather; heat and humidity; rain; sleet; hail and cold when traveling to and from residential customer homes.


 


This factor measures the surroundings and physical conditions under which a job must be done and the extent to which those conditions make the job disagreeable.  Consider the presence and relative amount of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, wetness, etc.

Key Responsibilities


Results


Sales Special Projects 90%



  • Daily travel to CTC customer areas to visit with property owners/renters about CTC services.

  • Accurately tracks locations visited on a daily basis.

  • Leaves CTC marketing materials at locations visited.

  • Verify housing structures and locations based on mapping information. Provide updates and corrections to mapping information as needed.

  • Assist with keeping contact and sale status databases current.

  • Assists with selling CTC’s products and services offered over any of CTC’s networks in the CLEC and ILEC areas.

  • Special projects as defined by the Residential Sales Supervisor and/or Sales Manager.


Customer Service 5%



  • Establish an effective working relationship with Sales Advisors and Member Services Representatives.

  • May assist with validating service order details by verifying with the customer so that paperwork is processed correctly for provisioning and installation.


Professional Responsibilities 5%



  • Must protect the confidentiality of customer’s financial information.

  • Wears professional attire that will reflect his/her profession and will be subject to management discretion.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
