School of Fish: STEM Careers in IP

Fish & Richardson is pleased to announce its School of Fish program. This program aims to educate undergraduate and graduate students about intellectual property law and increase exposure to career paths in the field.

PROGRAM DATES AND TIMES
School of Fish will be a combination of virtual and in-person programming. The first five sessions will be virtual, and the program will conclude with an in-person session.

Virtual Sessions: every Friday from October 2 - October 30, 2026 3:00 - 5:00pm ET.

• Candidates will attend weekly workshops that focus on introductory information on IP law and various career options in IP.


• Workshops will be led by Fish attorneys and technology specialists.


• Candidates are expected to attend all five sessions.

In-Person Session: Week of January 4, 2027 in Washington, D.C. (exact dates to be determined by semester schedules)

• Fish will cover travel and lodging costs.


• This session will include interactive education, networking, interview and resume workshops, career planning, and a social reception.

MONETARY AWARD
Those that complete the program will receive:

• A $1,000 scholarship upon completion of the program


• The cost of the LSAT or Patent Office Registration exam fee for those who express interest


• A discount code for an LSAT or Patent Office Registration Exam prep course

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must:

• Be entering their third or fourth year of undergraduate study, or pursuing a graduate degree in a science or engineering field


• Be enrolled at a U.S.-based college or university for the duration of the program


• Demonstrate meaningful commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through their involvement in school or other community efforts and initiatives

DIRECTED PERSONAL STATEMENT
On a separate document (that must be attached to this application), in 500 words or less, please describe the following: your interest in STEM, your interest in patent law and School of Fish specifically, and the experiences or activities that demonstrate your interest and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, either within your school or in your community.

The application period will close on July 15, 2026, at 11:59p.m. ET.
