Job Description - SEIU IDOPP: Associate IT Field Support Specialist

SEIU Intra-Departmental Opportunity Pilot Program: Associate IT Field Support Specialist

The Shared Technical Services (STS) IMAC team is seeking a participant in the SEIU Intra Departmental Opportunity Pilot Program (IDOPP) focusing on an Associate IT Field Support Specialist capacity.

The chosen candidate will undergo an orientation upon their on-boarding to ensure understanding of the role's responsibilities and objectives.

The specific work schedule will be agreed upon between the candidate, the sending manager, and the receiving manager.

The experience is envisioned to encompass approximately 19.5 hours per week (not to exceed 49% of the employee’s time) for 12 months.

Duties and tasks may include:

Provides technical support to meetings that include video conferencing;
Deploys new or upgraded images, software and hardware;
Configures and installs desktop PCs, peripheral equipment, laptops and mobile devices;
Repairs hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications;
Conducts unit tests for new deployments or new components and remediates problems;
Diagnoses and resolves client workstation and mobile device hardware and software issues;
Documents solutions to common problems and responses to frequently asked questions;
Provides on-the-spot training to customers;

Program highlights include:

Participation in this program is completely voluntary for all parties involved: the participating employee, the sending manager (the current manager of the employee), and the receiving manager (the manager hosting the opportunity).
The participating employee must hold permanent status in their current position in the TSS department prior to the commencement of the opportunity.
Work out of class (WOOC) is not an option.
This program is voluntary and the participant is responsible for maintaining their regular job duties.
There is no overtime.
The program involvement and outcome cannot be grieved.
No more than 49% of a participant's time is allowed to be dedicated to participation in this program.
The participating employee does not need to meet the employment standards for the position/opportunity for which they are applying.
Time and experience in this program can be applied to future applications.
The agreement may be terminated upon written notice submitted by the sending supervisor/manager, receiving supervisor/manager, and/or participant provided that the notice is sent to all three parties a minimum of two weeks in advance of the termination date.
