About the LBJ Business Policy Roundtable
The LBJ Business Policy Roundtable is a flagship speaker series at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin. The series convenes top leaders from business, government, and academia to shape a forward-looking public policy agenda for U.S. business competitiveness. Against a backdrop of shifting global trade dynamics, rapid technological innovation, and evolving national security priorities, the Roundtable engages students, policymakers, and industry leaders in substantive dialogue on how America can lead in the 21st-century economy. During the 2026-2027 academic year, the series will host six convenings.

Purpose
The LBJ School is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented graduate student to serve as Graduate Program Coordinator for the LBJ Business Policy Roundtable. The Coordinator will be integral to the successful execution of this high-profile public policy initiative, with responsibilities spanning event management, speaker engagement, and audience development. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with senior leaders in business and government while gaining hands-on experience in program management, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement. The role reports to Senior Economic Policy Advisor at the LBJ School.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Speaker & Stakeholder Coordination: Assist in outreach, scheduling, and communications with invited speakers, VIP guests, and institutional partners.

  • Audience Development: Help design and implement strategies to broaden the series’ reach among students, faculty, alumni, and the broader Austin business community.

  • Social Media & Communications: Draft and post engaging social media content, and follow-up summaries to promote the series and highlight key takeaways; Prepare speaker bios, background materials, and talking points for moderators and hosts.

  • Event Operations: Support planning, logistics, and execution for each session

  • Post-Event Follow-Up: Assist with event wrap-up, including thank-you notes, audience engagement metrics, and content archiving.

Required Qualifications

  • Current UT Austin graduate student in law, business, policy, communications, or a related field.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Comfort interacting with senior leaders and public figures.

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and event promotion strategies.

*Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
