Job Description - SIP - AMD - Huynh, MyTien Elizabeth - 6.11.26

Our research group is seeking a motivated undergraduate intern to participate in the design, synthesis, and chemical modification of two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides (MXenes). This project focuses on utilizing advanced materials chemistry to manipulate the composition and surface functionality of these versatile nanomaterials, aiming to optimize them for critical energy applications. The selected intern will gain hands-on experience with scalable chemical processing routes and advanced characterization techniques to help uncover the fundamental structure-property relationships driving material performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge energy solutions while developing foundational skills in synthetic chemistry, materials characterization, and data analysis within a collaborative laboratory environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
  • Applicants must be:

‒ Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.

‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or

‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test
