Job Description - Social Media Intern

Description

Victory Programs, a Boston-based nonprofit, has been helping individuals and families in crisis for almost 50 years. Our long-standing history is a testament to our stability and commitment to our mission. Thousands turn to us yearly for shelter, sustenance, recovery, care, and professional, compassionate support. Those we serve are homeless or precariously housed; most struggle with substance use and mental health, and many live with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. Our team of nearly 350 staff across 29 programs works with people to develop and execute creative, safe solutions to their genuine challenges.

Victory Programs is looking for a Social Media Intern to help grow a large, die-hard fan base through our social media channels.  In this role, you will work directly with VPI’s Communications Manager and internal agency partners to grow followers and build community engagement.

This role offers a unique opportunity for someone with a zest for creativity in marketing. We are looking for a candidate with a sharpened skillset in social media, content creation, photography/videography, and a keen eye for the next big thing in marketing. Copywriting and graphic design skills are a bonus. Your ideas and creations will directly impact the lives of individuals accessing services at Victory Programs as we work to build our internal content creation process and capabilities.

This role is for a self-starter who is creative, collaborative, and driven and wants to have a big impact in a fast-growing organization. Victory Programs’ culture is not only fun but also highly collaborative and team-oriented, providing a supportive environment for your professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Concept and develop social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) content in collaboration with program teams, creating a minimum of 2 posts per week.
  • Engage with VPI’s communities on social media in coordination with our Development and Communications team.
  • Execute influencer and ambassador outreach to amplify ongoing programs and develop deeper relationships with partners.
  • Track and analyze the performance of social media content using tracking tools such as Meta Business Suite to understand what’s working or not working to achieve objectives.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Communications and Marketing Manager to execute Victory Programs’ communications, marketing, and brand publicity strategies.
  • Attend and photograph various events across Victory Programs, capturing moments highlighting our impact and supporting our storytelling efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A love of social media, including trend watching and understanding of the execution styles for different channels such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Highly creative and evidence of a successful approach in creating social video content, including conception, shooting, and editing. Please provide examples of past work.
  • Proficient in creating eye-catching graphics using Canva or other tools in a professional setting.
  • Passion for and or personal experience with human services.
  • Ability to take complex subjects, i.e., substance use disorder, homelessness, chronic illness, etc., and write content with sensitivity and empathy.
  • Experience and comfort filming client-related content.
  • Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Extremely collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and an enduring sense of humor.

Location:  Boston, hybrid role.  Working on-site at Victory Programs’ Administrative office and or program locations at least 2 days a week.

Compensation & Benefits:

Position type: Part-time (16 hours) Monday – Friday (flexible schedule, depending on availability)

Rate:  $21.00 / hr

Victory Programs values a diverse workforce, as we collectively seek to create welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environments for our employees and the people we serve.
