Spring Internship - MileSplit

FloSports is a world-class sports media company strategically positioned to be the essential destination for passionate sports fans, delighting them with live event coverage, breaking news, highlights, stats, rankings, and team and player profiles. We are growing Our Sports every day by continuing to invest in our ever-expanding ecosystem, which consists of over a dozen sport verticals and hundreds of streaming partners. FloSports is creating the home for sports like hockey, track & field, racing, grappling, wrestling, cheer and more, and we are looking for innovative and passionate people like you to help us!

THE ROLE:

• Project based work with specific goals that can be added to your portfolio.

• Holistic understanding of how video drives success in a fast-paced, performance-driven company.

• Have a dedicated supervisor/mentor to guide and challenge you throughout the duration of the program.

• Learn the ins and outs of an OTT sports media company.

• This internship is available from early January to mid May. 

• This internship is based in Austin. 

• Seeking a minimum availability of 20-25 hrs/week. 

• This is a paid internship, offering $18/hour. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and create engaging cross-country and track & field content

• Generate contextualized rankings content using the MileSplit database

• Curate and assist with surfacing content from state sites within the MileSplit network

• Recap and preview the biggest cross-country and track & field events of the week 

• Make use of editorial best practices for tagging, search engine optimization, and crosslinking

• Working collaboratively to support goals of the MileSplit and Flotrack Content and Social Media teams

• Must be available from early January to mmid May. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

• Must have a demonstrated subject matter expertise in cross-country and track & field

• Experience creating engaging content that speaks authentically to a passionate audience

• Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading and editing

• An understanding of SEO best practices

• Comfortable using Adobe Premier, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop

• Strong listening and communication skills

• Excellent research, organizational and time management skills; 

• Experience meeting deadlines in a dynamic work environment

• Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy

• Ability to take and implements creative notes and feedback

• Graphic design, photography and video production/editing skills a plus

• Highly motivated to learn about the world of sports media
