STEP Center & Office Intern

Description

Horizon Project is a non-profit organization that provides support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Intern will work at the STEP Center Program at the Office under full supervision of a STEP Center Employee. This position will assist the Program with projects, client activities and outings, and organizational tasks. The intern will NOT administer client medications, prepare client foods, operate company vehicles, or be left alone with clients at any time. The Intern may be asked to complete administrative tasks as needed.

This position is for high school students under 18 years old. Applicants 18 years or older should apply for a regular DSP position. Horizon Project will complete paperwork for school credit, if provided.

Wage: $16 per hour

Schedule: Flexible, but must be available to work during the STEP Center operational hours of Monday-Friday, 8AM-4PM. Clients are typically present at the STEP Center from 9AM-2PM.

Requirements

• Must be able to get to the office when scheduled.
• Must be able to pass an Oregon State Background Check.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.

Physical Demands

Some lifting, up to 40lbs may be required

Work Environment

This position may require indoor and outdoor activity and will involve supervised interaction with intellectually and/or developmentally disabled individuals which can result in physical contact and/or verbal exchanges.
