Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the IT Student Worker assists the Office of Information Technology with
campus technology support. The position supports computer hardware, software, network connectivity, account
access, equipment setup, documentation, and customer service.
Essential Job Functions:
Time Allocation
• General IT support: 40%
• Network and connectivity support: 30%
• Equipment setup and maintenance: 20%
• Documentation and other assigned duties: 10%
General IT Support
• Assist users with computers, software, printing, account access, device connectivity, passwords, and
multifactor authentication.
• Gather issue details and refer complex matters to the appropriate OIT employee.
Network and Connectivity Support
• Test wireless connectivity, network ports, wall jacks, and related equipment across campus.
• Document and report outages, equipment failures, and connectivity issues.
Equipment Setup and Maintenance
• Set up, move, maintain, and inventory computers, printers, phones, and related equipment.
• Support technology in classrooms, laboratories, offices, and campus events.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
• Current enrollment as a student at Shaw University.
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations
• None required.

Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying.
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
