Summer 2026 Estimating Intern

Employment Type: Internship

The Estimating Co-op/Intern will be exposed to the earliest phases of the construction process. Working with our dedicated estimating and preconstruction department, you will see how the bidding process evolves; learn how to read plans and drawings; and communicate with our subcontractor partners. The goal is to develop a fundamental understanding of general commercial, industrial, and institutional estimating practices. This knowledge will be the foundation for future career opportunities and an asset in any construction role. The Estimating Co-op/Intern reports directly to the Senior Vice President/Estimating & Preconstruction, James Thomson.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Bidding/estimating support
• Understand plan and specification requirements
• Identify subcontractor/material supplier scopes of work
• Distribute construction documents
• Communicate with subcontractors
• Assist in take-off process
• Assist in database maintenance
• Handle requests for information
• Track estimating deadlines
• Build relationship with key stakeholders including owners, architects/engineers, subcontractors and consultants

Qualifications

• Construction Management major, or related field; Accurate and efficient with a strong work ethic and interpersonal communication skills
