Camp –Support Counselor (Daytime)

DEPARTMENT: Camp

LEADERSHIP SUMMARY

The Camp Support Counselor (Daytime) will infuse and model the Girl Scout Law into their everyday work to fulfill the mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Camp Support Counselor (Daytime) supports unit leaders and unit counselors in the guidance and supervision of campers ranging from entering 1st grade to 12th grade and supports camp asst. director and director as needed. 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Moves between units, as assigned, providing supervision and support

· Leads and participates in songs, games, and other activities

· Ensures campers complete papers

· Completes daily and weekly documentation

· Attends virtual training and day-long in-person training

· Attends staff meetings

· Actively engages with campers and participates in camp activities 

· Follows camp rules and policies

· Maintains a positive attitude and professionalism with campers, parents, volunteers, and staff

KNOWLEDGE AND CREDENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required

· Experience working with youth preferred

· Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience preferred

· First Aid and CPR certification preferred

ABILITY AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS

· Membership with GSUSA and subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement

· Demonstrate ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.

· Strong human relations skills and ability to work well with others of diverse cultures

· Ability to exercise good judgment

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Solution-driven with the ability to effectively problem-solve

· Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

· Ability to bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods

· Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures for extended periods

SCHEDULE AND LODGING

· Scheduled between 9am-6pm; Monday-Friday

· Position does not live on site
