Summer Intern

Position Characteristics:

• Paid internship, $12.50 per hour
• 25-40 hrs/week 
• Typically a 9am-4pm, Monday- Friday schedule. Some flexibility is required with nights and weekend hours depending upon the Service Area’s needs, which would include the Mayor’s Cup Pickleball Tournament and other special events.  
• Non-seasonal, part-time, non-benefitted. 
• Free employee membership included with internship.

Position Purpose:

Intern will assist with organization, maintenance and management of various summer programs, activities or events within Recreation and Fitness Department. 

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation will attempt to tailor the internship experience according to intern’s interests and goals. By default, responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting with the following: public skating, tennis and pickleball lessons, group fitness, park and rec kid’s camp, the Mayor’s Cup Pickleball tournament, and other programs/events as assigned. Intern will also help oversee and organize recreation and fitness facilities owned and operated by Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Service Area. 

Requirements

Qualifications:

Training/Education/Certification:

• Current Undergraduate or Graduate student in recreation management or related field.
• Supervisory experience preferred but not required. 
• Experience working with youth preferred but not required.
• Valid Utah Driver’s License
• Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check 

Required Knowledge:

• Basic understanding of sports, youth programming and event management.
• Microsoft Office and basic computer functions.
