Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is Colorado’s statewide nonprofit legal aid program, with thirteen offices providing civil legal assistance to low-income Coloradans throughout the state. CLS provides free legal assistance in a broad variety of legal areas, including family law, public benefits, eviction defense, consumer protection, services to survivors of serious crime and human trafficking, and many others.

Position Summary: 


The intern will work fifteen hours per weefor two full in-office days and support both the People & Culture team and the Grants team.  


 


For the People & Culture team, the intern will assist with digitizing personnel files, draft and edit longer term writing projects, assist in developing trainings, and assist in implementing statewide culture-related concepts. 


 


For the Grants team, the intern will assist the Grants Director and grants team in managing over 65 grants at CLS. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit grant writing, research, and compliance, while contributing to programs that make a real difference in people’s lives. 


 


 


Duties:
 



  • Grant Research: Identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources. 



  • Data Management: Assist the team with maintaining grant calendars, tracking deadlines, and updating tracking via Share Point and Planner. 



  • Proposal Support: Help draft, edit, and format grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents. Help research demographic trends for proposals. 



  • Compliance & Filing: Assist the team in organizing grant-related files and ensure documentation meets funder requirements. 



  • Team Collaboration: Participate in meetings and contribute ideas to strengthen grant funding strategies and workplace culture strategies. 



  • Human ResourcesUtilize attention to detail skills in drafting and editing organizational HR-related documents. 



  • Digitizing Files: Utilize technology skills to digitize old human resources office files.

Qualifications: 



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 



  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities. 



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfortable learning new software. 



  • Interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, social justice, or human resources. 



  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. 



  • Prior experience in research or writing is a plus but not .
