Job Description:

Summary:

Reporters/Researchers work in person in the Investigative Reporting Workshop (IRW) newsroom during the summer months, beginning at or around June 1st. This is a part-time position.

Duties include research, fact-checking, filing public-records requests, analyzing data, interviewing subjects and experts, and other tasks as they arise. At the direction of IRW editors and our journalism publishing partners, reporters/researchers may work on stories across a wide range of topics, including police use of force to political funding to the release of toxic chemicals in water and air. These stories often focus on the accountability of government agencies. 

Essential Functions:

  • Support IRW’s investigations: Research, fact-checking, filing public record requests, interviewing subjects and experts.

  • Request and Analyze Data: Request and gather public information; Analyze data.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 20 - 27 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $22.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
