Job Overview 


Nonprofit Administration interns gain practical, hands-on experience in nonprofit setting. This is a unique internship for those seeking experience with project management, recruitment, grant requirements, volunteer coordination, and financial managementThe Nonprofit Administration intern will be part of a larger team that provides support to other areas of the organization as neededThis internship position is unpaid, but interns will receive a $500 stipend to help cover costs related to the internship (food, housing, transportation), and college credit can be earned. This internship is to be completed in person, not virtually. 


 


The NPA intern will be trained in various tasks and procedures to support the Financial and Administrative team. They will contribute to projects and recurring tasks for finance, human resources, volunteer coordination, Connections program & mailing support, community engagement, as well as general administrative day-to-day duties. Collaborating across departments, the intern will take the lead on coordinating intern recruitment and hiring for the following semester.  


 


Summer 2026 special project(s):  



  • The NPA and Community Engagement interns will continue work started by Spring 2026 interns on an internal community engagement training system.  



  • Assist NPA supervisor on writing, editing, and entering SOPs and processes to our operations platform (Slite).  



  • Optional additional special project determined by the intern and supervisor 


 


This internship will run from May 11th through August 21st, and will have a mandatory orientation on May 7th2026 from 9:00 am-2:00 pm at the Family Futures’ office. This internship can also be extended into multiple internship periods ending in either December 2026 or May 2027If interested in a longer internship period, please reach out to the hiring manager. 


 


Family Futures employees, volunteers, and interns serve as spokespersons and champions of Family Futures in the communities we serve. A position at Family Futures may entail the following: the use of a personal vehicle, lifting of boxes (roughly 25 lbs.), as well as attendance of community events outside of regularly scheduled hours. For any adaptations or accommodations for the above information, please reach out to the hiring manager. 


 


Roles and Responsibilities 



  • Gaining knowledge of the general principles of nonprofit administration 



  • Office management support 



  • Creating and modifying documents using Microsoft Office 



  • Inputting and analyzing data in various online platforms and spreadsheets, including confidential information 



  • Run and properly store background checks for staff, interns, volunteers, etc.  



  • Internship Program Support- Recruit and hire next semester's interns, collaborate with other departments on their internship needs 



  • Assisting with email management 



  • Assisting with financial management 



  • Assisting with special projects 


 


Required Qualifications 



  • Current college student or recent graduate 



  • Experience or interest in nonprofit management, administration, or other relevant fields  



  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 



  • Strong written and verbal communications skills 



  • Strong Microsoft Office skills 



  • Detail-oriented and organized 



  • Effective time management and organization 



  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 



  • Ability to work autonomously 



  • Able to meet deadlines  



  • Ability to work at least 15 hours per week 


 


Preferred Qualifications 



  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people  



  • Strong organizational and planning skills  



  • Experience with using various platforms to communicate and collaborate  



  • Proficiency in Excel
