Job Description - Systems and Equitable Engagement Intern

This is a paid internship, range of $22/hr - $39/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW


The Communications, Marketing and Engagement (CME) division handles engagement initiatives, marketing campaigns, promotions and partnerships, media relations, social and digital media as well as graphic and video asset production. The Systems and Equitable Engagement intern will support an increasing volume of customer-facing initiatives requiring communications and engagement. Tasks include helping execute multi-channel communications and outreach plans, staffing booths and engaging with the public, managing the collateral that supports customer outreach events, and maintaining the Engagement team’s database and master calendar. Projects may be generated by other teams within the department, as time allows.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.


JOB DUTIES:



  • Support System Engagement team’s involvement with engagement planning, implementation and operational maintenance work.

  • Staff engagement opportunities at a variety of fairs, festivals, and other events across the Puget Sound region with a particular focus on summer events. 

  • Draft quarterly Commute Trip Reduction newsletter, which is sent out to large employers in the Puget Sound region.

  • Keep team inventory of collateral and promotional items organized and stocked, including brochures, fact sheets, handouts, giveaways and supplies; update as needed, placing print job requests with Copy Center.

  • Track business unit metrics by compiling data gathered during customer outreach activities and entering data into CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.

  • Support a variety of engagement activities across division disciplines including Safety, Youth, Operations and station access engagement


POTENTIAL PROJECTS:



  • Assist System Engagement team with managing and executing multi-channel public involvement plans/ communications plans for an increasing volume of customer-facing initiatives, including proposed service changes and fare changes, pre-planned service disruptions that happen as a result of active construction, bi-annual Service Changes, the agency’s annual Service Implementation Plan, outreach related to fares and fare changes, outreach related to parking and outreach related to major bus restructures (e.g. Lynnwood and Federal Way Link Connections).

  • Assist System Engagement by keeping a master calendar of events, packing materials and staffing the following types of appearances in order to provide customer service and rider information to the general public:

    • Information booths at open houses, community festivals, farmers markets, fairs and festivals, and transportation fairs

    • Ambassador Street Teams at transit facilities

    • Agency special events.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in Marketing, Communications, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or other non-technical discipline or relevant two-year certificate.          


PREFERRED LICENSES:


Valid drivers license. This position is responsible for field inspections and attending community events, when public transportation might not be available.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

  • Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.

  • The Agency promotes a safe and healthy work environment and provides appropriate safety and equipment training for all personnel as required.
