Position Overview

This senior-level internship is designed for local college students in their final year of study who are seeking a structured transition into a professional role after graduation. The Technical Writer / User Assistance Specialist Intern will support our proprietary software by creating clear, user-centered documentation and assistance content.

The role offers hands-on experience with digital learning tools and structured content platforms used by modern technical communications teams. Interns will work on both written and multimedia user assistance deliverables, contributing to onboarding content, release documentation, and help center assets.

The role blends professional writing, user experience, and business communication, making it well suited for students in English, Technical Communication, Business, Information Systems, or related disciplines.

This internship is intentionally structured as a pipeline-to-hire opportunity, with the expectation of conversion to a full-time role upon graduation with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, contingent on performance and business needs.

Learning Objectives

The intern will develop advanced, career-ready skills in:

  • Writing and editing clear, audience focused technical and instructional content

  • Translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for end users

  • Creating user guides, help center articles, release notes, and internal documentation

  • Applying style guides, editorial standards, and accessibility best practices

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather information and refine content

  • Learning to use modern authoring and documentation tools such as Paligo and Help + Manual

  • Gaining exposure to multimedia content creation tools like Murf (AI voiceover) and Camtasia (video editing)

  • Using version control, task tracking, and content reuse strategies in a collaborative publishing environment

 Academic Alignment

This internship supports senior-level experiential learning and aligns with coursework in:

  • Technical Communication

  • English (Professional, Technical, or Rhetorical Writing)

  • Business Analytics or Information Systems

  • Digital Media, UX Writing, or Communications

The structure and scope of work are appropriate for internship-for-credit requirements, if applicable.

Supervision, Mentorship & Professional Development

  • Direct supervision by a Senior Documentation, Product, or Business Lead

  • Clearly defined writing assignments, deadlines, and revision cycles

  • Regular feedback focused on clarity, tone, audience, and effectiveness

  • Mentorship in professional writing practices and workplace communication

Conversion to Full-Time Employment

  • This position is intended to convert to a full-time Technical Writer / User Assistance Specialist role upon graduation

  • Conversion is based on successful performance, completion of degree requirements with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and business needs

  • The full-time role expands responsibilities and offers continued professional growth

Compensation & Compliance

  • This is a paid internship compliant with FLSA guidelines
