The TERO Intern is to support the operations of the Tribal Employment Rights Office. This internship provides hands-on experience in workforce development, employment preference administration, data tracking, and program support within a tribal government setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.
Assist with intake, review, and organization of TERO worker registry applications
Support maintenance of confidential TERO records, files, and electronic databases
Assist with data entry and tracking related to employment reports, utilization data, and workforce activities
Support coordination of trainings, certifications, internships, work experience, and outreach events
Assist with preparation of materials for job fairs, recruitment events, and community meetings
Provide administrative support including filing, scanning, document preparation, and correspondence
Assist with research related to workforce development programs, training opportunities, and employment resources
Support communication with program participants regarding registration, documentation, and follow-up
Observe compliance activities and workforce operations as appropriate
Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in using a computer and common computer software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams)
Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
Ability to work well within the existing team and government structure
Sensitive to Native American Culture
Pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background check
Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*
Position requires repetitive use of fingers, hands, wrist in job related duties, i.e. telephone, computer. Complete range of motion, including fine motor skills and tactile sense of both hands.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time with occasional amounts of standing or walking
REQUIRED TRAINING:
Harassment training
Any position-related training as determined by department manager
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting, but may include occasional outdoor activities
