The Virtu Latency Lab

Virtu is opening the doors of its Austin office for the first time to put local students' programming skills to the test.

Students will team up and compete head-to-head, racing to build the most optimized solution to a real-world industry problem. But speed alone won't win the day—we're evaluating how you think, not just what you build. We're looking for engineers who obsess over shaving nanoseconds off latency, builders who can pivot smoothly when requirements shift, and collaborators who make their entire team sharper.

Winning teams will walk away with more than a cash prize: they'll gain mentorship from industry experts and a firsthand look at the grit and problem-solving mindset it takes to break into the world of trading.

Overview of the Program:

Date: Friday October 30th

8:00am-8:00pm

Location: Virtu Austin Office (2530 Walsh Tarlton Ln)

Accommodations provided: Meals, local transportation

Requirements:

• Excellent academic background in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics


• Currently a 2nd-year undergraduate student with anticipated graduation in Spring 2029


• Intermediate to advanced programming experience in C++


• Strong interest in pursuing a career in financial services

The Process:

After an initial resume screening, selected applicants may receive an online programming test via HackerRank by email. Final decisions will be announced the week of October 19th.
