The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following\: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university and in good academic standing. Proof of academic enrollment (current transcript copy) must be provided upon selection

  • Must have completed one (1) academic year of college

  • Must be 18 years old at start of employment

Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations

The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) runs Ohio's unemployment insurance program. This program gives temporary income to workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It helps families cope during unemployment and supports local economies by keeping money in circulation. For more information, visit the ODJFS OUIO webpage.

What You Will Do

You will support OUIO by helping strengthen the training, tools, and resources that staff rely on to serve Ohioans. In collaboration with the UI training team, you will contribute to projects that improve how information is delivered, how staff feedback is understood, and how data guides decision‑making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, collaboration, and contributing to a mission that directly impacts people across the state.

 

During your internship you may:

  • Organize, and analyze training evaluations and feedback data.
  • Identify key themes, opportunities, and common issues.
  • Summarize and report findings for leadership.
  • Review statistics and staff usage trends for AI Chat Bot.
  • Identify recurring AI Bot prompt challenges or opportunities.
  • Develop or maintain reporting dashboards/spreadsheets.
  • Support setup and preparation for upcoming training or communication initiatives.
  • Update training materials, guides, and/or resource pages.
  • Support recommendations for future training or refinement.

 

Travel: There may be opportunities for in-state travel.

Schedule\: 15-20 hours per week M-F. Hours must be worked between 8AM – 4PM.

Location\: This position will be headquartered in Akron. 172 S. Broadway Street, Akron, OH. 44308

Timeline\: As soon as possible OR Fall 2026.

 

Recommended Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially:
    • Excel (e.g., data sorting, formulas, visualizations)
    • Forms (e.g., survey creation and data collection)
    • SharePoint (e.g., organizing and updating content)
    • PowerPoint (e.g., presenting findings)
    • Teams (e.g., collaboration and communication)
  • Ability to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify trends or inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written communication for drafting summaries and reports.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Attend a university or college within a reasonable commute to Akron (e.g., University of Akron, Kent State University, Stark State College, Herzing University).
  • Experience or coursework in data analytics or statistics.
  • Interest in training, communications, or process improvement.
  • Comfort facilitating small group discussions or walkthroughs in Teams or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional project environments.
