We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Intern to join our Utilities team for Summer 2027. In this role, you will assist with data review, research codes and standards, help develop layouts, design concepts, and detailed drawings. You will use industry software, such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, to generate drawings, reports, and other deliverables. You will also support your team in keeping projects organized and see firsthand how designs move from concept to completion. Internships are paid, full-time roles from mid-May through early August, with opportunities in our Cary and Charlotte offices. A housing stipend is also provided for the summer session.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Interested in applying classroom learning to real-world projects
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and ready to collaborate
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microsoft Office is a plus

Working Conditions

The assignment may require infrequent evening/weekend work and job site visits outdoors. Candidates should enjoy working in collaborative, fast-paced, and client-driven environment.

Physical Requirements

The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended time travelling in a vehicle, and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
