Internship Term:

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2024 through June 2026.

Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements.

The intern will be responsible for collaborating with the Electrical Engineering team to do component-level evaluation and validation across different short-range wireless standards like BT/UWB/Wi-Fi and GPS (Global Positioning System). 

• Develop basic link analysis for radio technologies in free space
• Follow-up with the impact of the vehicle body on short-range and GPS technologies for vehicle-specific use cases
• Hands-on work at the Rivian Innovation Center to collect data on real hardware to measure throughput and power consumption performance that is over large sample size and with guidance assess the statistical significance of the results.

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelors or masters at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign
• Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Electrical Engineering

• Must be available for 20 hours per week in the Fall and Spring and 40 hours in the summer. 
• Ability to read schematics and component data sheets, Matlab scripting.
• Hardware prototype experience and using lab equipment, Lab Instruments – Scope/Probes/Spectrum Analyzer/Power Analyzer
• Data analysis experience using Python/MATLAB or R preferred
• Instrument Control experience with Python or LabView based tools preferred
• Experience in programming with C or C++ preferred
• This project will require a weekly task status update and monthly project update.

  Must be in Champaign, IL and able to work out of our office in the Research Park .

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships : The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
