Job Description - Catechist Academy Coordinator - Part-Time

Catechist Academy Coordinator (Part Time) University of Notre Dame The University of Notre Dame ( ND.jobs ) is accepting applications for a Catechist Academy Coordinator (Part Time) . Applications will be accepted until 06/14/2024.

The McGrath Institute for Church Life partners with Catholic dioceses, parishes, and schools to address pastoral challenges with theological depth and rigor. By connecting the Catholic intellectual life to the life of the Church, we form faithful Catholic leaders for service to the Church and the world. In this part-time role, you will work under the direction of the Associate Director of the Institute and with the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South to identify local parishes to partner with the Academy. You will also::

  • Collaborate with local parish leaders of faith formation to confirm parish catechetical program needs
  • Recruit, assign, and train Notre Dame, Saint Mary's, and Holy Cross College students to serve as catechists
  • Recruit, form, assign and oversee a Mentor-Observer team that offers support to academy catechists
  • Attend to catechist background checks and safe environment training and the employment payment process for Mentor-Observers
  • Connect catechists to McGrath Institute programs, faculty and staff as needed.


This role is part-time (20 hours/week), in-person on Notre Dame's inspiring campus.





Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A. Theology degree or equivalent
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diocesan and parish partners and Mentor Observers, as well as to recruit and offer introductory training and support to student catechists
  • Attention to detail and skills to perform administrative tasks
  • Knowledge of and commitment to a life of faith
  • Experience in parish catechetical ministry or willingness to learn
  • Desire to connect students with McGrath staff, faculty and programs
  • Attention to detail and administrative tasks




Preferred Qualifications:

These qualifications are NOT required to apply! Having one or more may increase the potential to be considered a top applicant.

  • M.A. Theology degree
  • Experience in parish catechetical ministry or related ministry
