Occupational Health Nurse (Part-Time) (North Anna)

Job Summary

  • This role participates in the development, implementation and administration of healthcare programs that enhance wellness through disease and accident prevention.

  • Provides nursing care for occupational injuries and illnesses, including emergency care and referral, based upon nursing assessments, nursing diagnosis and medical directives.

  • Assists with obtaining health and work history, interpreting results, and making referrals for positive findings.

  • May involve case management for workers compensation programs and non-occupational disability programs including compliance with FMLA and ADA.

  • Maintains nursing recordkeeping system that meets legal requirements and assures confidentiality.

  • Assist Safety Department as necessary with (i.e. public safety, Industrial hygiene and regulatory matters

  • Must be available to work as needed during outages.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Must have RN licensure in the United States (Virginia preferred) with 3-5 years related experience. Note: A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience.

  • The ideal candidate will have the following (preferred, not required):

  • Experience in an occupational setting.

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-S) or equivalent related experience.

  • Medical case management experience.

  • Knowledge of health issues related to radiation exposure and specific regulatory requirements related to Nuclear.

  • Experience in spirometry, audiometry, visual screening, venipuncture and interpretation of test results.

  • Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Working knowledge of basic Human Resources and Insurance management.

  • A broad knowledge of FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation and other disability policies and practices including applicable occupational health knowledge.

  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol testing procedures.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, families, physicians, etc., and fulfill documentation requirements.

  • Must have recall of clinical knowledge and critical thinking ability to effectively plan and provide care consistent with standards and regulations and deal with unique problems as they arise.

  • Effective computer skills (SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

  • Solid planning and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Preferred Discipline: Nursing

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Certified by State Board of Nurse Examiners as Registered Nurse (RN), Spirometric, Audiometric certifications may be required by OSHA and NRC.
