POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Publications and Communications Specialist
DEPARTMENT / OFFICE: Our Lady of Lourdes Parish
SUPERVISOR: Rev. John Tapp, Pastor
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: N/A
STATUS: Part Time Non-Exempt (20 hours)
OFFICE HOURS: Mon-Tue-Wed 8am-3pm; balance of time to be worked remotely as needed.

General Description: Responsible for the day-to-day publications and communications for Parish and assist with School.
Essential Functions:
Publications for Parish:
- Create weekly bulletin using Publisher: write copy for liturgical and social announcements and special events as needed; create graphics or use creative photos to coordinate with announcements; collect announcements from school, faith formation staff and different ministries; design the cover. Upload bulletin to publication company.
- Create brochures/pamphlets/handbooks for faith formation and other ministries.
- Create booklets for liturgical and social events.
- Create annual pictorial calendar using theme of the year with photos and appropriate quotes or scripture.
- Create banners for different liturgical seasons and schedule changing of the banners.
- Create prayer cards.
- Create special displays for the narthex or for special events.
- Print all the above publications either in-house or coordinate with a printer.
Publications for School:
- Create school folders, marketing brochure, and banners, using consistent branding and creative photos and graphics.
- Create prayer cards and posters for school events, using creative photos and graphics.
- Arrange for printing.
Photography:
- Coordinate with parish, school, and ministries for photo opportunities for publications and archives.
Flocknote:
- Create weekly email using Flocknote, by selecting various newsworthy announcements from the bulletin and diocese, utilizing hyperlinks and videos.
- Create emails for special announcements or invitations.
- Maintain and update the database of members.
Advertising:
- Coordinate and create school marketing ads with local newspapers/magazines.
- Coordinate and create church ad for Christmas Mass Times with local newspapers/magazines.
Social Media:
- Create graphics/text for Facebook and Instagram and post newsworthy items and events.
- Maintain various pages on social media: Church, School, and Young Adults.
- Working knowledge of the YouTube account, with the ability to download, upload, and stream if necessary.
- Working knowledge of Church Online streaming service, with the ability to schedule streaming services if necessary.
Church Announcements (PowerPoint Slides):
- Create weekly PowerPoint slideshow by using select announcements from the bulletin, adding graphics and text.
- Create the leading slide weekly, which should coordinate with the bulletin cover.

Website Administrator, Pastor and Priests, Lay Staff, School Principal, Faculty and Staff, Fall Festival Committee Chair(s), Saints and Sinners Committee Chair(s), Parishioners, Diocesan Staff, and General Public.
Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in graphic design and publications
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Publisher/Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
- Flocknote
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Canva
- Social Media (Facebook/Instagram)
- Ability to work in a timely manner and follow up with others
- Ability to exhibit a spirit of professionalism
- Good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, display clear, concise creativity, with work experience in publications
- Ability to display consistent branding across all platforms (publications, website, social media, Flocknote)
