REGISTERED VASCULAR SONOGRAPHER Part-Time
Job Summary:
At Vein and Artery Surgical Consultants our registered vascular sonographers perform non-invasive vascular testing and clinical evaluations. The technologist consistently demonstrates exceptional accuracy, quality, and efficiency, requiring minimal supervision. They uphold a high standard of medical ethics and show a strong commitment to integrity and professionalism. Motivated by a desire for continuous improvement, the technologist actively seeks to enhance their knowledge and expertise in vascular technology.
Essential Functions:
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic vascular testing utilizing multiple modalities while following policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Utilizes cognitive skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information.
- Responsible for the safety and comfort of the patient.
- Maintains an organized work area and takes provide in the service they provide to our patients.
- Maintains testing equipment, work areas, and supplies.
- Establishes and maintains ethical working relations and maintains good rapport with all physicians, clinical team, referring offices, and Administration.
- Travels to satellite locations

Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for examination and explains procedures to patients.
- Assesses the patient and correlates the clinical history with the prospective test.
- When necessary, consults Lead Technologist, Office Manager, Technical Director, or referring physician to determine appropriate vascular lab procedure.
- When necessary, consults with referring physician and/or patient chart regarding clinical history.
Performs the following procedures with expertise and confidence:
- Cerebrovascular
- Peripheral vascular
- Arterial
- Duplex/graft imaging
- Segmental pressures and CW waveforms
- Stress testing
- Pulse volume recordings
- Venous duplex
- Aorto-iliac evaluation
- Renal artery evaluation
iii. Mesenteric evaluation
- Hepatoportal evaluation
- Hemodialysis graft imaging
- Fistula evaluation
iii. Thoracic outlet
- Cold stress
- Reactive hyperemia
- Graft compression
- Abdomen
- Renal / Transplant renal
- Pre/Post Bladder
- Thyroid
- Other tests as determined by Lead Tech or interpreting Physicians.
- Correctly operates complex non-invasive vascular testing equipment and computers.
- Correctly differentiates normal from abnormal testing results.
- Understands when to seek guidance and instruction.
- Recognizes the limitation of equipment.
- Follows protocols and can deviate from normal techniques when necessary.
- Assists provider with venous ablation procedures.
- Reviews pathology, surgical, and angiography reports to follow patient's progress and to provide a means of correlation.
- Relays results to proper physicians or departments according to clinic protocol.
- Assists in the formulation of new techniques.
- Assists in orientation of new staff members and students.
- Attends vascular lab meetings and assists with Quality Metrics.
- Stays current in the field of ultrasound and vascular technology.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Vascular Technologist
- Must be mature, responsible, self-motivated, patient conscious and capable of working with limited supervision
- Uses initiative and independent judgment when necessary
Specific Competencies:
Demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of the specific individual, including age.
Licenses/Certifications:
REQUIRED: RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist), or RVS or VS (Vascular Sonographer) through ARRT - ACTIVE STATUS
Physical Requirements:
- Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
- Involves some lifting of patients, moving of heavy equipment on wheels (up to approximately 500 lbs.), and moving patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Requires holding prolonged arm positions necessary for obtaining required scan.
HIPAA Requirements:
The Registered Vascular Sonographer has access to Protected Health Information of the practices' patients and understands the privacy requirements as prescribed by federal and state laws.
Expected hours: 16 - 25 per week.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
- No major Holidays
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
