Food Service Worker Part-time

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker for the Adult Partial Hospital Program within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the part-time Food Service Worker is to assist in providing wholesome and quality foods to clients within the Partial Hospital Program setting according to nutritional standards and procedures of University Behavioral Health Care. Assists in preparing, transporting, and serving food items to clients. Carries out various cleaning and sanitation functions as assigned. Demonstrates competency in working with the mentally ill population. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Prepares breakfast per program menu.
• Prepares snacks for breaks per program menu.
• Assists with preparation of lunch per program menu.
• Takes a lead role in the absence of a unit Cook.
• Coordinates set-up of food.
• Assists with transporting food items for serving, storage, and discard per program needs.
• Maintains proper storage of foods.
• Maintains proper sanitary conditions of work area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Ability to stand and operate various food service equipment, serve customers in a positive manner and maintain unit sanitation standards as set by the department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Partial Hospital program with ongoing contact with patients. Busy noisy environment.
