Job Description - HR Representative (part-time)

Location: NE Portland, Parkrose Neighborhood - onsite

Position Status: Part-time, 16-24 hours/week

How this role transforms workplaces:

The Onsite HR Representative is responsible for providing onsite HR services and support for Archaeological Investigations Northwest, Inc. (AINW) along with the support of the HR Business Partner (HRBP) and Xenium team.

  • Acts as a resource for all employees in multiple aspects of HR. Utilizes HRBP for assistance and guidance with technical and strategic HR issues.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding benefits related issues, including workers compensation and leaves of absence.
  • Support AINW’s safety functions, including policy development and implementation, stay current with compliance requirements, coordinate & attends monthly safety meetings, reviews PPE for each field project, conducts safety audits, maintain safety incident records, and collaborate on corrective action plans. Aim to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Assists managers in the recruiting process which includes drafting and posting of the job opening, screening resumes, coordination of offer and pre-employment screening (checking references), and completion of all onboarding paperwork.
  • Works with managers to ensure that all the proper documentation is in place for all aspects of HR and benefits.
  • Coordinates all aspects of terminations in conjunction with the Xenium HRBP.
  • Manages and assists in the development of people systems and recognition programs.
  • Schedules and conducts new hire and benefits orientations.
  • Administers and/or coordinates COBRA paperwork.
  • Produce the appropriate leave paperwork and tracks all leaves for employees.
  • Participates in AINW meetings to discuss HR related assigned topics as needed, and to take detailed notes.

Who you’ll work with:

HR Business Partner, Xenium Specialists, AINW President, AINW Office/Operations Manager, & AINW employees.

Required experience and skills :

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, or one to three+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and work independently.
  • Possess excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, attention to detail, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Display empathy while maintaining firm boundaries.
  • Ability to work independently while developing and fostering critical interdepartmental relationships.

Preferred skills and certifications:

  • Human Resource certification a plus.

Xenium HR is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. The starting salary for this role ranges from $27.26-29.67/hour based on skills/knowledge, years of experience, and ensuring pay equity within the organization.
