Research Associate - Part-Time

The Culture, Families, and Early Development Research Team is seeking a Spanish-speaking research associate for a new project that leverages an existing partnership between the PIs and Grail Family Services (GFS), a community-based organization located in Northern California. The project ( Uno, dos, tres, matematicas todos podemos hacer: Elevating the math in the daily routines of home-based childcare settings ) is funded by the Heising-Simons Foundation to design, pilot, and study the implementation of an early math professional development program for Spanish-speaking home-based providers. The research associate will support the PIs (Gigliana Melzi and Nydia Prishker) in all project-related activities. The position may involve travel to the San Jose, CA area from NYC.

Position Responsibilities

• Support virtual coaching efforts and manage the online collaborative platform
• Prepare logistics and materials for all meetings with providers
• Support in-person meetings with providers in California
• Perform data entry and maintain databases
• Transcribe in-person math meetings with providers
• Coordinate with providers and partners in project-related activities

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base rate for this position is $28.25-$30/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. 

Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be completely in-person.

• Native fluency in oral Spanish
• Excellent writing skills in Spanish
• Master's degree in psychology or education
• Experience working with immigrant families with young children
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Effective organizational and time-management skills
