General Purpose

Performs a variety of working level semi-skilled duties as needed to assure proper cleaning and routine maintenance of assigned county facilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general supervision of the County Maintenance Supervisor.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None

TIME ALLOTTED: Up to 19 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs daily facility care and cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, carpet cleaning, auto scrubbing, etc., patrols building environment to collect debris and assure clean facilities.

Monitors custodial supplies and materials inventory, apprises supervisor of shortages.

Sweep, buffs, dusts, washes, washes and clean walls, doorframes doors, and glass, (inside), vacuums and shampoos carpets and entry rug and mats, maintains work closets and monitors availability of supplies.

Operates various cleaning equipment such as power buffer, carpet extraction machine, etc. mixes chemicals as needed to perform specialized cleaning functions.

Monitors various mechanical equipment operations, i.e., HVAC operations, performs minor routine service to mechanical, electrical, carpentry, masonry and plumbing components of assigned facilities and notifies supervisor of any un-normal changes.

Bathrooms are one of the most obvious rooms that require more attention than others and will be a priority for cleanliness, attention and fully stocked with supplies.

Performs other duties as assigned. Training will be provided. Assigned areas, Public safety office areas, Court rooms, Attorneys offices, 5th District Court offices, Dispatch, all office areas of the Public Safety Building.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education and Experience

a. Graduation from High School

b. One (1) year experience performing and or above duties.

c. Additional formalized related training may be substituted for experience

2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working Knowledge of Custodial equipment and proper application of the same; interpersonal communication skills; procedures, tools, equipment and materials and cleaning agents used in custodial work; emergency measures to be taking in the cleaning agents and equipment effective operation of equipment such as carpet extractors, vacuums and buffers.

Ability to recognize building malfunctions in heating, cooling plumbing, and electrical systems; heavy lifting and other duties requiring moderate physical strength; develop working relationship with other employees and supervisors(s).

Must be trustworthy and be able to work around a sensitive environment where the employee may see things that cannot be repeated, or discussed in anyway or form under penalty of law.

3. Special Qualifications;

a. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

b. May be required to work abnormal work schedules.

c. Employer will conduct a Felony Background Check and fingerprinting.

d. Must be a Citizen of the United States.

e. Employee is subject to Random Drug Testing.

4. Work Environment;

Work may require some physical demanding duties. Task require variety of physical activities generally involving muscular strain, such as lifting, walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting. Hearing, seeing and reading are essential to performance of daily duties. Common eye hand, ginger leg and foot dexterity also expected. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and emotional stability and discriminating thinking, guided problem solving. May be required to lift in excess of 50 pounds in moral course of job performance.

Work must be performed daily before or after business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
