25-082 Seasonal Adopt-A-Spot Worker, Part-Time

The City of Dover is seeking an individual to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in seasonal phases of Adopt-A-Spot (AAS) maintenance and manage quality control of AAS areas. May work onsite at AAS locations, assist with program development, attend AAS events and support the development of the program. 

This is a seasonal part-time position, up to 10 hours per week. $16.49 to $23.87 per hour.  Position is open until filled.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
1. Minor AAS parcel upkeep and related tasks as to debris removal, light landscaping and gardening.
2. Assist in the maintenance and review of AAS locations as to adopter activity, compliance and quality control.
3. Support management efforts which may occasionally involve assisting adopters with seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, planting and watering of the City’s AAS locations.
4. Collect and dispose of waste from AAS parcel grounds; pick up litter from premises.
5. Assist in weather related repairs to AAS locations (land and signage) and mitigating the effects of natural and man-made disturbances.
6. Familiar with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work.
7. Assist in opening and closing AAS for the season as needed.
8. Perform other related duties, as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Some knowledge of, and the ability to use simple hand tools; knowledge of planting, gardening procedures and techniques; ability to perform simple and routine manual labor; ability to perform a variety of manual tasks; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to use office equipment, computers and communications equipment.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 16 years of age, with minimum High School diploma preferred; Valid motor vehicle operator’s license; some experience in maintenance of grounds and/or lawn care experience; OR any combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
