POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:                     3rd Shift Waste Water Technician

DEPARTMENT:Waste Water

LOCATION:Ottumwa

SALARY CLASS:Non Exempt

HOURS:    Midnight - 10AM (Tuesday- Friday)

Responsibilities:

• Working in wastewater area for daily operational adjustments, equipment operations and recording data.
• Must be able to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months.
• Monitoring operating equipment & report any equipment problems.
• Monitor and control plant functions through computer information and manual controls.
• Recording equipment data.
• Perform and interpret laboratory tests and the analysis of wastewater at various stages of treatment.
• Maintain accurate logs and record data required for compliance and reporting.
• Operate sludge press equipment.
• Perform routine housekeeping and cleanup of facilities.
• Must be able to operate forklift as needed.
• Adjustment of treatment chemicals as required.
• Comply with safety procedures.
• Occasional overtime may be required.
• Cover co-worker vacations as needed
• Work some holidays as needed (rotating with co-worker

Qualification:

• Good communication skills.
• Previous experience helpful, but not required.
• Mechanical skills
• General Math Skills
• Working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft word for data entry
• Self-Motivator
• Able to work independently and unsupervised as required
• Able to work outside year round as needed
• Able to climb stairs
•  Good attendance record (Less than 3.0 points, for internal candidates)
