Seventh & Eighth Bible Classroom Teacher


DEPARTMENT:


Good Shepherd School


SUPERVISOR:


School Principal


TIME COMMITMENT:


262 Hours for the 2025-2026 Academic School Year


CLASSIFICATION:


Exempt PT Teachers/Administrators (-1100 hrs/yr) 4E



Position Profile:


The seventh and eighth grade Bible teacher position exists to work closely with our junior high students to educate them in the areas of Bible as well as foster growth in their personal character and their knowledge of, and relationship with Jesus Christ.  The person in the position holds the role and responsibility of being a ministry leader in addition to a classroom teacher.

  • Ability to build relationships with students

  • Ability to teach a diverse population of learners

  • Ability to teach the content of their grade level

  • Strong communicator with students, parents, and school staff

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Knowledge of instructional theory and best practices

  • Team player willing to put others’ needs before their own

  • A foundation in Biblical knowledge

  • Humility


 


Experience Qualifications:



  • A Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Education

  • A degree and/or specialization in Bible

  • Experience teaching or leading others in Bible or discipleship

  • Experience with Google Classroom, Sites, Forms, Sheets, Meet etc. is preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred


 


Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Be present at the school four hours a week Thursdays and Fridays, according to the school calendar days of operation

  • Plan, prep, teach, and assess all subject areas required for the grade level

  • Understand and be able to articulate curriculum – including, context, organization, and development

  • Follow safety procedures and expectations, and understand responsibilities of the teacher

  • Build relationships with students, fostering a safe and welcoming learning environment and one that supports school-wide behavior expectations with an emphasis on biblical principles

  • Observe and evaluate students’ academic performance, behavior, and social development

  • Communicate positively with students and parents in a timely manner

  • Collaborate closely with other teachers and staff with an attitude of teamwork

  • Develop a classroom management system or plan, appropriate for the age of students and dynamics of the class. Utilize positive classroom management while creating a structured learning environment where students feel valued, encouraged, and safe to learn and grow

  • Monitor academic progress of students, support, and communicate needs as they arise

  • Attend graduation

  • Use available technology to deliver instruction and communication effectively and appropriately

  • Use school resources responsibly, with fiscal and ethical considerations, following guidelines and expectations

  • Manage time effectively, prioritizing needs and problems

  • Recognize and analyze problems and develop potential solutions

  • Complete required safety training outlined by the Principal

  • Maintain First Aid and CPR certification

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal

  • Consider attending the four-day trip with the 7th grade class on June 1-4 to Camp Warm Beach, WA

  • Ensure all actions performed within the context of this job position accomplish and further the mission, vision, and values of Good Shepherd Community Church

  • Adhere to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Good Shepherd Community Church elders


 


Additional Notes:



  • Regularly attend at Good Shepherd Community Church or other church in our community that shares the same beliefs as Good Shepherd Community Church

  • Complete Ministry Certification, which will include a criminal background check, as part of hiring process

  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct outlined in the Good Shepherd Community Church Employee Handbook and the Good Shepherd School Faculty Handbook

  • This is a position to finish out the 2025-26 school year. The start date is October 27, 2025 and ends June 8, 2026. A teacher may choose to prepare school classroom and curriculum prior to the official start date on their own time
