Accounting Specialist

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Accounting Specialist to oversee the financial operations of our mental health practice. This role is critical in ensuring sound financial planning, accurate reporting, and effective revenue cycle management in a behavioral healthcare environment. The ideal candidate understands the unique financial landscape of mental health services, including insurance reimbursements, coding, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Regulatory Compliance

• Manage daily accounting functions: accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations.


• Ensure compliance with federal and state financial regulations.


• Prepare for audits and support external accounting partners during tax preparation and reviews.

Cash Flow & Cost Management

• Monitor cash flow, manage operating expenses, and ensure financial sustainability of the practice.


• Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Collaborate with clinical leadership, practice managers, and administrative teams to align financial and clinical goals.


• Provide training and guidance on financial best practices to non-financial team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (CPA preferred).


• 3–5+ years of experience in healthcare financial management, with preference for mental health or behavioral health settings.


• Proficiency in financial and billing software (e.g., QuickBooks)


• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


• Understanding of privacy and confidentiality regulations affecting mental health providers.
