Job Description - Activities Coordinator

Description

  • Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a fast-paced, community-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to fostering the integration of the low-income, Pan-Asian immigrant and refugee community into the United States. Established in 1981, CMAA has been a cornerstone of the Uptown community, providing programming for generations of low-income youth, adults, and senior citizens. We offer direct services, including afterschool & youth mentorship programming, job training & placement, elder care services, and social services such as citizenship & housing services.

Requirements

Activities Coordinator for Adult Day Services would be responsible for coordinating activities for senior clients such as enrichment activities, physical exercise, and serving lunch under the supervision of the Manager of Adult Day Services.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily on and off-site activities for seniors
  • Develop program curriculum
  • Provide case management, translation, and advocacy to clients
  • Monitor and maintain proper hygienic standards for food service and other utilities
  • Serve lunch to clients under the supervision of the Manager of Adult Day Services
  • Help clients choose meals from the selected menu according to recorded dietary restrictions or care needs
  • Ensure meal selections and dietary restrictions are communicated with the Adult Day Services Team and the designated dietician 
  • Provide clients with referrals to other services as necessary
  • Incorporates physical activity into the daily programming.
  • Develop and review client service plans on a regular basis to monitor client progress and revise as needed
  • Ensure that the program adheres to federal, state, and local requirements and is in compliance with Illinois Department on Aging guidelines and procedures
  • Maintaining a clean and organized activity space

  

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Bilingual in Laos, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Cantonese, or Spanish a plus
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or complete CPR/First Aid training within 10 days of hire
  • Must be Safety and Sanitation certified or complete certification within 10 days of hire

  

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. 

Physical Demands

  • This is a largely sedentary role, however, some filing is required.  This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
