Internal Candidate Identified
This position collaborates with Energy & Utilities staff, Facilities Operations personnel, and external service providers to support BAS-enabled building systems, chilled water operations, and components of the campus metering and energy management systems. The Energy Technician does not have supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assist with the operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of building automation systems (BAS) in campus facilities.
Review BAS trends, alarms, and system data to support identification of HVAC and system performance issues.
Support testing, validation, and refinement of control sequences, schedules, and setpoints under the direction of Energy & Utilities staff.
Assist with energy efficiency, demand management, and sustainability initiatives that leverage BAS data and system analytics.
Provide technical support related to chilled water and central cooling systems, including monitoring performance and assisting with coordination of service activities.
Assist with installation support, data validation, troubleshooting, and documentation related to campus metering systems, including electric and thermal (BTU) meters.
Support commissioning, functional testing, and acceptance activities for BAS, metering, and related building systems.
Document findings, system observations, and recommended actions and communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors.
Participate in meetings, site visits, and coordination activities as requested in support of operational or project needs.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC systems, and integrated building systems.
Ability to interpret system data, trends, and alarms to support troubleshooting, optimization, and performance improvement.
Working knowledge of chilled water systems, central cooling plants, and related HVAC infrastructure.
Compensation Pay Range:
$19/hour
