Full job description
We are seeking a dependable and child-focused individual to join our team as both Van Driver and Afterschool Teacher. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting children from area schools to our program each afternoon, then leading engaging, age-appropriate activities until pick-up time.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport children from designated schools to our facility, following all traffic laws and State of Texas Minimum Standards.
- Maintain a clean, well-functioning vehicle and promptly report maintenance needs.
- Assist children in boarding and exiting the van safely.
- Supervise and engage children in afterschool activities such as arts and crafts, games, homework help, and outdoor play.
- Monitor behavior and maintain a safe, respectful environment during transit and in the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration regarding transportation or program updates.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience working with children in a professional setting (school, daycare, camp, etc.).
- Ability to manage groups of children in both a classroom and transportation setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, patient, and committed to maintaining safety and positive interactions at all times.
