Job Description - After School Y-Winners Site Leader

Description

 

Our staff provide a nurturing environment and emphasize the development of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to children 6th-8th grade at our Moline location.

Hours are Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 3-6 PM and Wednesday 2-6 PM. 

Summary: The general function of this position is to assist with the responsibilities in running successful year-round Y-Winners program. During the school year this position serves as a Site Leader at our After School program at the Moline branch location. The individual will possess full knowledge of Y philosophy, workings of a program locations and groups, and understand character development as the chief mission of the Y and personally exhibits a commitment to this in all Y operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains current CPR/AED and other required trainings and certifications.
  • Assist in the implementation of weekly lesson plans and curriculum.
  • Monitors and ensures the safety of the children at all times.
  • Greet and develop a courteous relationship with program participants, program parents and guardians, school staff, and the general public by using Listen First Skills.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Assist in serving meals and snacks to our program participants.
  • Keep all program areas safe and clean.
  • Resolve conflict and discipline issues with program participants.
  • Be able to supervise and participate in program activities with program participants.
  • Become familiar with all of the duties of the Extension Leader.
  • Promote Y programs and membership to all program clients.
  • Ensure Y Mission, Character Values, and 40 Developmental Assets are a part of your daily activities.
  • Sharing the Y story with those that around you and program participants.
  • Arrive to work on time with your nametag, proper attire, Y staff shirt, and a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a professional image of the Y in the facility and the community.
  • Use the time clock system to log your work hours, notify supervisor right away in writing of any errors or missed punches.
  • Work as a team with other Y staff members.
  • Enforce Y Code of Conduct and all rules and information found in the staff training guide.
  • Report Incidents by using the proper forms to the Coordinators and Directors.
  • You may be required to change school sites or travel from site to site on occasion.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The effect of a successful Y-Winners Leader will be a well-administered program that influences the children in the areas of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Parents and the community will view the program as a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for supervising all Y-Winner program participants.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One year working with youth is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents, students, administrators, and staff.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform simple math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/AED for infant, child and adult, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, other required trainings, and complete a Medical Exam and TB Test.

Other Skills and Abilities: Strong human relations skills required.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific hearing and vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but at times loud.
