About This Career Opportunity

A Dining Room Server:

Creates a positive dining experience for residents.
Discusses and explains menu items to residents, records resident food selection, delivers food and beverages, cleans and re-sets tables.
Assists residents with salad and breakfast bar.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Dining Room Supervisor and Culinary Services Director, records resident food selection, delivers food and beverages, cleans and re-sets tables. Assists residents with salad and breakfast bar and delivers trays, as needed.

Meal Service Support

Demonstrates a positive, professional and caring manner in providing meal service.
Follows dining services policies and procedures.
Assists residents with salad and breakfast bar as needed.
Presents menu to residents, answers questions and makes suggestions regarding meal choices.
Records orders and relays to kitchen production area. Is knowledgeable about menu choices, including ingredients and preparation methods.
Work Efficiency

Works efficiently and quickly. Records food orders and delivers food to the table at the appropriate temperature.
Clears, cleans, and resets tables for next meal service.
May assist with salad bar, soup service, portion desserts, brew coffee or perform other services as determined by the supervisor.
Attention to Detail

Good attention to detail.
Observes residents to fulfill any additional requests, perceives when meal has been completed to remove items.

Qualifications - Position Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.
Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22.
6 months or more in long term care, home care or related field preferred.
Working knowledge of computers and typing, sufficient enough to be successful with computerized Point of Care and other systems.
Must possess effective English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully work in a multi-cultural environment.

Ability to speak, read, write and understand English, including ability to fully explain menu items and their ingredients to residents.
Ability to record food orders and work quickly and efficiently.
Positive attitude and work ethic.
